Welcome
I’m a 39-year-old Canadian wife and mother. I was raised in the city of Toronto. I started this blog to vent about the things that a wife and a mother, or a working mother might complain about. I’m a stay-at-home housewife sorry, I prefer “Homemaker” and I spend a great deal of time helping my friends out of jams or being a shoulder to cry on. I don’t know what it is about me that people find comfort in, maybe it’s just because I’m a good listener. In retrospect I wish I had become a psychologist because I would’ve made a fortune by now! I’ve been there for friends who, hate their lives, their husbands, their jobs or they just hate everyone in general. I’ve also helped women who got in way over their heads with extra-marital affairs or debt. I try to give real life advice about someone’s situation. What I mean by that is, to resolve a conflict using a real-life example of how to solve a problem.
One of the biggest things people have asked my advice for is how to parent a child with a learning disability. I am not an expert in this in anyway but I have real life practical experience. My 18-year-old son had ADHD and parenting him has been the hardest and frustrating thing I’ve ever had to do. I like to help parents whose young one has an LD and tell them the mistakes I’ve made. If Americans are reading this, in Canada it is much harder to get accomodations for your LD child than in the US. I’ve attended every meeting or parenting classes on how to successfully parent a child with behavioral problems and sometimes these classes are very expensive for others or not available and I would love to help if I can. So if you post a question (I’m new to blogging, hopefully that’s the right phrase!) I will try to help you the best I can as quick as I can.
As serious as I am about my responsibilities as a wife and a mother, I am a bit of a goofball as well. I love to joke around and have fun. In school, (I believe) I made a perfect formula of being a great student and a class clown. We must always try to joke and have fun. Your sense of humor is what is going to get you through those tough times.
So if you feel like posting about anything, e.g. how furious you are at the guy who cut you off, or you even if you think my posts are dumb, please comment. I just please request that no hateful or threatening comments are left. No one likes those much and I really don’t want to have to deal with them.
I look forward to posting the thoughts, feelings and of course frustrations of my everyday life and hopefully I will attract an audience and gain some friends along the way.
Cheers!
Nicole
